Free picture downloads in batch mode with neodownloader

May 24th, 2009 by admin

Ever wanted to find pictures of stars, cars, famous people etc well you can with neo downloader get it here, this software is really great for finding images videos or mp3s from websites, you can even download pictures in batch mode which means you can download the whole folder of images on ones site, you could download the whole website, end the frustration of trying to save each file manually.

Some sites might be password protected but that’s OK because it has a feature that you can add the user name and password that gives you access to download pictures etc.

Choosing the file size of a picture or JPG, you can filter the size in the options, meaning you can either choice all sizes or custom size JPG`S, where you would enter 100KB for images for images nothing smaller than 100KB, you can also do the same for movies and mp3s.

This tool is great if your building a website and you are looking for a lot of pictures or content to use sometimes images and photos might be copyright just check with the site owner if your are worried about this type of thing, i my self have built many sites using neodownloader, i find it saves so much time searching for content, it used to drive me crazy downloading each image one by one.

All the files are saved in a directory of your choice with folders for easy access, folders are automatically written straight from a website, which makes it easy to understand, not all sites will let you download there pictures but most do, here’s a video of how to use neodownloader, the video is not the best but it does show the basics that you need to use it.

How to record streaming video

May 20th, 2009 by admin

Today i will show you 2 ways you can record streaming video or download videos from YouTube video sharing site, some sites you can download the videos straight from there web site and some you may have to record the
video alltough you will lose some of the video and sound quality.
I will use a screen capture to record the video, i am using software called My Screen Recorder Pro, this is what the video looks like after i have recorded it from YouTube.

Here are the AVI settings i used with My Screen Recorder Pro.

video-settings-for-my-scree

Lets take YouTube for example, you can use http://keepvid.com to download videos its rather easy to download the files from YouTube when you use this site but you will need a FLV player you can download a free one from here http://www.wimpyplayer.com/products/or you will need to convert the FLV to WMV or some other format that so that you can view the video.

After i had downloaded the video from YouTube, i converted it from FLV to WMV so i was able to edit it in windows movie maker 2 then re uploaded it to YouTube, this is what the video looks like now :)

There are many other programs that will let you download videos from YouTube, some will even convert the FLV format to AVI or WMV format, then you can watch it right away on your computer system.

Best mp4 player

May 15th, 2009 by admin

I cant say this is the best MP4 player as new software comes out every day but its very good and very easy to use, when you install it, if you don’t have the right codec, it will automatically download the correct MP4 codex for your system, its also very simple to use.

mp4-player
You can download the MP4 player here for free http://mp4-player.ivefound.com
You can also put MP4 files on your iPod as this is what it uses to read video files.
mpeg4_qt_icon_128

MP4 format is iPod compatible format. Converting all videos to this format will allow you to upload them to your iPod and view them on the go The MP4 format delivers DVD quality video in a lot smaller file sizes.

If you want to put all your MP4 videos on your iPod You will need to download iTunes
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ for you to be able to put your MP4 videos onto your iPod, you will also be able to transfer your favorite MP3`s to your iPod with ITUNES.

Not just for iPods you can also put MP4 format on your website for streaming media for people to watch your online presentations or your sample clips, you can also upload MP4 format to YouTube making it faster time for uploads, YouTube recommends it anyway as the best format today.

MP4 is short for Moving.Picture.Expert.Group-4 MP4 format has been around since 1998, it was considered the best standard for all video of
streaming and broadcast applications on the Internet. The format was such that web designers were able to easily make use of MP4 on web sites and in various other areas. People found it to be a

great sales and marketing tool, and people also had a fantastic time viewing, swapping, and even making their own streaming video media from the .MP4 format.

Compress video files or convert them

May 14th, 2009 by admin

There are many ways for video compression,  some are very good and some are not so good, lets take a look at different formats of compressed videos, some are very common like .AVI, MPEG or DIVX some play on Home DVD players, but all will play on a PC computer with the right software installed.

There is a few different ways to compress a video or movie, if you don’t want any loss of quality in your videos i would just compress it with WinRAR file
compression software, WinRAR is a powerful archive manager, if you don’t have WinRAR you can download load it here here http://www.rarlab.com once you have it installed, get it going and locate your video, mine is here

video-file
Now right mouse click on the video file and select the second choice

add-file-to-compress1

and leave all the settings default for now this will make a compressed file of your video thus making it a bit smaller it does does some time though, my file was 357MB after it was compressed it is now 353MB only 4MB reduced its not really worth it! it also did take a very long time.

create-archive
With WinRar you can set a password encryption for your video file, you can make self extracting and multi volume archives etc.

Another way you can compress the video is to convert it to a different file format this will reduce the audio video quality and file size, i am using Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate http://www.Xilisoft.com/trialware

I have reduced the file using .FLV format, this is a great format if you want to add video to your website as now its only 74mb in size, here is a video of how i did it :)

How to use fraps and good settings

May 10th, 2009 by admin

When using Fraps, it does take up a lot of system resources, it can also be used as benchmarking games finding out how many FPS or (Frames Per Second) a game can run at, but it will reduce the amount of FPS to some amount as Fraps will use a lot of system RAM.

For best results

Make sure you exit any programs that might be taking up RAM or memory on your computer, exit and quit everything you don’t need running, if your system is a slow computer, you may only be able to record in 10 FPS and in this case you will lose a lot of game play while recording.

Good settings for Fraps

When i use Fraps i use 25 FPS, for small games, but if i am recording a game that requires 3d and a lot of RAM i will use 10 FPS click.
For settings click on the  Movies TAB then select 25 FPS now if your trying to record something and its very laggy this is due to a slower system, which means you need more RAM or a better 3D video Card, you can select 20 FPS or slower in the custom box but you wont be able to capture as many frames in the game.

fraps-settings

Hard Drive Space

Fraps records in the best video capture quality AVI and a 5 min capture will take up about 5 GIGA BYTES at 30 FPS, this is a lot when you might want to record 30 Min’s or so, you will need a fair amount of HARD DRIVE lots of free space.

Recording a game

When you are ready to record a game start Fraps then start your game you want to record, then when ready just press the F9 key to start recording when you have finished recording your game just press the F9 key again to stop.

Where are my saved videos

You can find the saved videos under C:\Program Files\Fraps but you can change this location in the movie options TAB to what ever you like.

Saving and compressing your video

You can use any type of video editor, but for a free version just use Windows movie maker if your running XP, keep the video at 800×600 or under when using Windows movie maker.

Screen capture

You can also take photos of anything in a game while playing by pressing F10 every time you press F10 you will have a new photo, photos are saved in the folder C:\Program Files\Fraps but you can change this location in the Screenshots options TAB to what ever you like, you can also set the file type .BMP .JPG PNG and .TGA there is a auto option of setting it to take a photo every 10 20 sec or whatever you like.

Windows movie maker slow motion video

May 9th, 2009 by admin

I will show you how you can slow you video down in windows movie maker 2, this is effect in windows movie maker is called,  Slow down, Half and you can find it under the Tools, Video Effects TAB.
I have made a video of a video which has been on YouTube for a while now some guy bursting a water balloon, i had to try and slow this video down even more just to see what it might look like, i have added the (Slow down, Half) effect on the video clip 2 times which means the video will run for 2 mins, every time you add the effect it will slow down the video even more, heres the video of how its done.

I have also included the video after it was completed below.

The hamster wheel original.

Now the hamster running in a slow motion video,  i have added the slow down effect 2 times on the video time line.

Brighter video in windows movie maker

May 7th, 2009 by admin

This wont work the best, but it might at least let you see what you filmed ornight-video even know whats going on in the video.
Night time movie making is pointless unless you have the correct lighting, but sometimes you might end up filming at night anyway, i have a few videos that are just too dark to use on a website or upload, this is where you may be able to bring some life back into your video, using a feature in movie maker that is a Video Effect and its called Brightness, Increase and you can also use Grayscale to take out the color which sometimes look better in darker videos.
Now i have a video of some puppies but it was filmed at night time, here is a
small short clip of how dark it looks before editing.

When you have your video in the time line we will select from Tools, Video Effects.

video-effects

Then drag the Brightness Increase Icon onto the video time line,

drag-brightness

i have added the icon onto the timeline 3 times, the more times the brighter it becomes, i have also added the Grayscale (Black and white) icon i dragged that onto the video time line as well, here is the video after i fixed the dark video.

Windows movie maker effects the basics

May 5th, 2009 by admin

When i first started using movie maker, i never really took any notice of the
special effects that you can use with it, i have only been making and editing
videos for a 2 years now and i have learned a lot, i want to tell you about the first basic effects (transitions) that windows movie maker can do and then over time i will go further into detail of movie maker,  many things i my self will learn along the way, watch the video and read below for more information.

There is no beginning or end in using special effects but i will show you some of the more easy to understand things to start with.
I will be making another puppy movie with about 100 photos and i will be using pictures of cute jack Russell’s, as i have 2 myself.
I will change the duration time to 4 seconds,

picture-duration

you can do this by clicking on Tools then Options, then click on Advanced TAB and change the picture duration time.
Then i can drag all the photos onto the video time line, for editing.

Now i will be adding the fade effect or (transition) to every photo in the video, you do this by selecting the Tools then Video Transition’s icon, you will then see a large number of transitions which you can use in your video.
Right mouse click on the Fade icon then on your keyboard hold Ctrl and press c to copy the transition, then click on first picture then hold Ctrl and press v to paste that transition onto the picture, you can then press Ctrl v on the next picture and so on to repeat the process on all the photos until you have finished, i am going to add some music into the video as well, after that you can save your movie and its ready to be uploaded to YouTube or your website, lets see how the video of the cute jack Russell puppies turned out.

How to use windows movie maker

May 4th, 2009 by admin

One reason why i still use windows movie maker is because its free and its good for what it is and i am only uploading videos to YouTube and other video sharing sites, many people can`t aford to buy high end movie editting software, besides its good to learn with as its rather easy to use.
The first thing you need to do is determine if you already have movie maker on you system, you can find in “C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe” if its not there then you will need to download it at

http://www.microsoft.com
If you get sick of trying to find it you could make a short cut to your desktop or putting the icon on your quick Launch bar (how to Display the Quick Launch Bar)
http://www.microsoft.com/quicklaunch

Basic System requirements:

Personal or multimedia computer with a 1.5 gigahertz Processor

Operating System:
you will need Service Pack 2 for
Windows XP Home Edition
Windows XP Professional
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

Memory or (RAM)
256 megabytes or higher of RAM

Hard disk (IDE or SCSI)

Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device ( A Mouse, no it don’t eat cheese)

Internet connection:

may be required for some updates, you will need this for
uploading any video clips or movies you make.

Now the system that i use is a lot faster than those specs and its still a bit
slow for for me, i need to update, especially when i have other programs running like Photo shop, FireFox etc.

My system Specs and what i use:
Personal or multimedia computer with a 2.80 gigahertz Intel Celeron

Operating System:
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

After downloading movie maker and installing it you might want to get used to the layout and feel of it, there is a lot of menus and such but don’t worry you will get the hang of it if i can, i dropped out of school when i was 14 years old, so if i can use it, then just about anybody can :)

Movie and video formats i will be doing a article about this very soon.
