How to record streaming video
May 20th, 2009 by admin
Today i will show you 2 ways you can record streaming video or download videos from YouTube video sharing site, some sites you can download the videos straight from there web site and some you may have to record the
video alltough you will lose some of the video and sound quality.
I will use a screen capture to record the video, i am using software called My Screen Recorder Pro, this is what the video looks like after i have recorded it from YouTube.
Here are the AVI settings i used with My Screen Recorder Pro.

Lets take YouTube for example, you can use http://keepvid.com to download videos its rather easy to download the files from YouTube when you use this site but you will need a FLV player you can download a free one from here http://www.wimpyplayer.com/products/or you will need to convert the FLV to WMV or some other format that so that you can view the video.
After i had downloaded the video from YouTube, i converted it from FLV to WMV so i was able to edit it in windows movie maker 2 then re uploaded it to YouTube, this is what the video looks like now
There are many other programs that will let you download videos from YouTube, some will even convert the FLV format to AVI or WMV format, then you can watch it right away on your computer system.

Frankly speaking, screen recorder is not intended for re-recording of other video clips from the screen (e.g. playing in Media Player, RealVideo, QuickTime etc.), but rather for creating regular software presentations, tutorial, demos etc.
You can download it with YouTube Downloader, or some online website application. And there are some steps works in downloading FLV files on Internet without any other application:1. Open up Explorer, click tools>internet options. Under Temporary Internet Files click delete. The reason you’re doing this is to clean out the folder so it will be much easier to find and save the FLV files being downloaded from the website.
2. Once you cleared out that folder, go to the website and play the video you want to save.
Important note: play the entire video. If you play and stop or go to another page the entire video will not be saved to your “Temporary Internet Files” folder.
3. Now open your “Temporary Internet Files” folder
(usually: C:\Documents and Settings\User 2\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files) there should be a bunch of files
4. With the “Temporary Internet Files” folder open, perform a search for .flv files- a short list or long list is going to appear depending on what is in your cache.
5. Click on the files to select which one to save and convert.
6. Once you know what FLV file to save it now needs to be converted so it can be played in Windows Media Player. Or you can paly it in a FLV player.
